Overview:
The Commercial Construction Superintendent is responsible for the successful execution of commercial construction projects, from initial site mobilization to project close-out. This role is critical in ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to all safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, a commitment to safety, and experience overseeing complex commercial projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
- On-Site Management: Lead all on-site construction activities and oversee subcontractors, ensuring work is conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the project plans.
- Schedule Adherence: Maintain and adjust project timelines as necessary to meet key milestones, closely monitoring daily progress and addressing any delays proactively.
- Safety Oversight: Implement and enforce OSHA and company-specific safety protocols, promoting a zero-tolerance policy for safety violations.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct regular site inspections to verify quality of workmanship and materials, ensuring compliance with design specifications and standards.
- Resource Coordination: Manage materials, tools, and equipment on-site, optimizing resource allocation and maintaining inventory control.
- Cost Management: Track and control project costs, including labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses, to maintain project profitability.
- Documentation: Maintain daily logs, safety reports, and other project documentation; facilitate necessary approvals and inspections.
- Client Communication: Serve as the on-site point of contact for clients, architects, and engineers, providing project updates and addressing concerns as they arise.
- Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve issues related to design, scope, and logistics, adapting plans as necessary to keep the project moving forward.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: At least 2-7 years of experience as a superintendent on commercial construction projects such as office buildings, retail spaces, healthcare facilities, or educational institutions.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated experience leading teams, coordinating trades, and fostering a productive and safe work environment.
- Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with clients, subcontractors, and crew members.
